Loren B. Harwood, CPA, CFP(r)

Partner

Loren Harwood is a tax professional with fifteen years’ experience in public accounting and financial advisory roles. He is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the CFP(r) mark issued by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. His experience includes tax preparation and planning for a wide range of individual, estate, trust and business clients. He has taught accounting and finance courses at Lane Community college and SWOCC. Loren completed his accounting coursework at the University of Oregon and a Master of Business Administration degree at Willamette University.

 

Shirley MacAdam, CPA

Partner

Shirley MacAdam joined our office in 2001 and has been an active member in our local community ever since. While raising her son and working as a chef and manager in the restaurant industry and later in the banking industry, Shirley returned to college to pursue her accounting career. Starting out at Southwestern Oregon Community College, she graduated with honors from Linfield College in 1998 and received her CPA license in 2001. Since 2003, Shirley has been one of the founding partners of HMWFG. 

Shirley's industry background and expertise provide a practical balance to her technical ability. While she serves her clients primarily with tax and accounting needs, her passion is helping the small business person succeed with cash flow management, long term business planning, entity structures, and ownership transitions.

Shirley is a communicator with a warm and personable style. She is the 2017 Distinguished Alumni of Southwestern Oregon Community College. She is currently treasurer of the Coos Bay Zonta Service Foundation and past president of the Coos Bay Area Zonta Club. She is most proud of the scholarship committee work she does with Zonta.

Shirley enjoys being actively involved in our community and spending time in the outdoors with family and friends. 

 

Jayson Wartnik, CPA

Partner

Jayson Wartnik, a Coquille native, graduated from Coquille High School in 1991. He attended Southern Oregon State College in Ashland and graduated in 1996 with honors from the Business School with an emphasis in accounting. Upon graduation, Jayson worked for Yergen & Meyer in North Bend, which later merged with Moss Adams, LLP. In 2001, Jayson transferred to the Medford office of Moss Adams, where he gained experience in real estate taxation and business valuation.

Jayson returned to the Bay Area in January of 2005. Jayson's desire to work for a locally owned and community involved practice, as well as being closer to his family, were key factors in his decision to return to the Bay Area. Jayson joined the firm as a partner in January of 2006. Jayson's primary focus is providing accounting and taxation services to small businesses, especially timber and agriculture concerns. He also has expertise in estate planning and like-kind exchanges. 

Jayson is very involved in the community. He currently sits on the Oregon Community Foundation south coast leadership council and has been an officer and served on numerous boards, including the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Southwestern Oregon, and Coos-Curry Small Woodlands Association. One of Jayson's proudest accomplishments was being part of the successful Coos Bay Best Bond Committee. Jayson believes we need to invest in our future and our schools.

When he's not working, Jayson enjoys spending time with his family and cheering for his favorite sports teams; the Marshfield Pirates, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Oregon Ducks. 

 

Laura Fisher, CPA

Partner

Laura Fisher, CPA and licensed municipal auditor, leads our audit team. She became a Partner in HMWFG in January 2012. Before joining our office and becoming a certified public accountant, she worked for commercial businesses and local governments. Her duties included accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, and budgeting. With over 30 years of accounting and auditing experience and managing over 30 municipal and non-profit audits, her knowledge of governmental accounting standards and financial statement presentation is exceptional. 

Laura attends over 40 hours of training each year, with an emphasis on auditing and accounting. She also has taken many workshops and seminars on subjects such as local budget law, wage and hour law, civil rights, and personnel policy writing and implementation. Her client service experience covers audits and reviews as well as management, personnel and systems consulting. With several years' experience as a computer network administrator, Laura is highly skilled in following computer generated transaction streams and analyzing ledger accounts and balances. Laura has often served clients by providing interim managerial services during a transitional period. 

Laura is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is also an Associate member of the Government Finance Officers Association. She has served on the Oregon Board of Accountancy Continuing Professional Education Committee and is a past Treasurer for the Coos Bay Downtown Association and Coos Bay Area Zonta Club. She is a board member of the Egyptian Theater Preservation Association.

In her leisure time, she enjoys working in the garden, traveling, and just hanging out at home with her dogs. 

 

Robert Gorman, CPA

Partner

In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, Bob Gorman is also a Personal Financial Specialist. He has been with the HMWFG firm for many years serving as a Senior Tax Manager before becoming a Partner in July 2013.

 

Bob has a large practice in business and individual taxation with an emphasis in the trust and estate arena. He routinely advises trust officers, financial advisors, attorneys, and other CPA's in estate and trust matters.

In addition, he has extensive experience working with non-profit organizations in a professional and personal capacity. He graduated from the University of Oregon in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1990. 

Bob is a member of the American institute of Certified Public Accountants and Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. The American Institute of CPA's awarded Bob the designation of Personal Financial Specialist in 1999. He is highly respected in his field and a valuable member of the HMWFG ownership group.

He and his wife Kathy have two sons and one granddaughter. He loves to fish, golf, travel, and spend time with family and friends. 

OUR ACCOUNTANTS

 

Sally Jaeggli, CPA

Tax and Audit Manager

Sally Jaeggli has been with HMWFG since 2004. A UC Davis Bio/Sci. graduate, she received her Masters of Accountancy in 2002 from Truman State University in Missouri, earned her CPA license in 2003 and her Oregon Municipal Auditors license in 2006. Prior to obtaining her license, her experience includes five years working for CPA firms and over ten years working in small business and not-for-profits.

 

Sally's audit experience includes 16 years working on cities, county, water districts, school districts, and colleges, as well as not-for-profits and commercial entities. On the tax side, she works with individuals and health care clients.

Sally is a member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and an associate member of Government Finance Officers. She loves gardening, cooking, singing with the Emmanuel Episcopal Church choir, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. 

 

Kristina Gochnour, M.B.A., CPA

Tax Manager

Kristina Gochnour joined HMWFG in December 2014. Kristina was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. Kristina and her family relocated to North Bend in November of 2012 when her husband accepted a position with a local civil engineering firm. She graduated from Western Governors University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting in 2010 and with a Master's in Business Administration in 2012. She obtained her CPA license in August 2016. Prior to joining HMWFG, she worked at Coquille Valley Hospital as a staff accountant. Kristina has worked in bookkeeping and accounting for many years. She is a member of the Zonta Club of Coos Bay.

Kristina and her husband, Marlin, have three children. She enjoys spending time with her family, camping, and going to the beach. Kristina also enjoys cooking, especially when she can find ways to make her family's favorite recipes healthier. 

 

Genesis Naverrete

Staff Accountant

Originally from Reno, Nevada, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno, Genesis Navarrete relocated to Oregon in January 2017 and joined our firm shortly after. Genesis has experience in the field of corporate law, where she assisted clients in assessing their asset protection needs and creation of legal entities such as corporations, LLCs, and LPs. She is a member of the Oregon Society of CPA's and a Board Member for the United Way of Southwest Oregon and a volunteer for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.

She enjoys exploring the outdoors and can't wait to discover all the trails, lakes, and rivers that Oregon has to offer.

 

Karissa Donaldson

Staff Accountant

Karissa Donaldson came to HMWFG in 2016 for a 12-week internship during summer break of 2016 and again during winter break that same year from college. We are happy to have her full time now, after graduating with her Bachelors of Science in Accounting from the University of Oregon in June 2017. She was born and raised in Langlois, Oregon, where her family owns a ranch. This is where she learned her strong work ethic and dedication. She is excited about what her future holds at our firm, and she looks forward to getting to know our clients.

In her down time, Karissa enjoys hiking, running, and spending time with her family out on the ranch.

 

Randall Minich

Staff Accountant

Randall Minich joined HMWFG as an intern during winter break from college in 2016. He recently graduated from University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in June 2017. We are pleased to have him as a full time member of our HMWFG family. Originally from Riverside California, he migrated to Oregon and has lived most of his life in the Pacific Northwest. Prior to joining our firm, he worked as a shipping coordinator/supervisor for a leading wood products provider, building a foundation for his business and administration experience.

Randall has a bright ambition with our office and we are excited to see where that takes him. He is a great asset and he looks forward to working with our wide client base.

Outside of work, Randall enjoys running, traveling, cooking, and playing games with friends and family.

 

Hanna Van Camp

Staff Accountant

Hanna Van Camp joined the HMWFG team in January 2018. She was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon, and after growing up around Ducks, she decided to become a Beaver. In June 2014, she left Oregon State with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy and many fond memories. After graduation, she moved to California to work as a staff accountant for manufacturing and distribution companies. Growing up, she frequented Coos County to spend time at her family's ranch in Powers, Oregon. After a few years in California and many weekend trips back to Oregon, she and her husband decided Coos County was the place for them to put down their roots.  They moved from Sacramento to Coos Bay in the fall of 2017, when her husband, Marc, accepted a position at a local engineering firm.

In her free time, Hanna enjoys cooking, running, and doing anything outdoors along the South Coast with her husband, their two dogs, and her friends. She is looking forward to getting involved in the community and working with the diverse clients at HMWFG.

Shelli Strebendt

Paraprofessional

A native of North Bend, Shelli Strebendt graduated from North Bend High School in 2000, where she was an athlete year-round in volleyball, basketball, and track. Shelli joined our office in 1999 and has since gained a good knowledge for the administrative role for the tax and assurance practices of our firm. Her skills include extensive knowledge of Word, Excel, and Quickbooks, as well as PowerPoint, providing her the tools she needs to work as a word processor, bookkeeper, and tax preparer. Shelli works with the audit team and has branched out as a paraprofessional doing client bookkeeping work and tax preparation.

 

Outside of work, Shelli devotes her time to her husband, children, and family. 

Darrin Stevens

Paraprofessional

 

Darrin Stevens came to HMWFG in December 2018. He was raised in Coos Bay and graduated from Marshfield High School. He received two Associate Degrees from Southwestern Oregon Community College in 1989. He has worked for several local small businesses as a full cycle bookkeeper and office manager with an extensive background working with QuickBooks.

Darrin enjoys spending time at home with his wife and daughter, going to the beach, and walking trails. 

 

Denise Layton

Paraprofessional

Denise Layton joined the HMWFG team in June 2019. She grew up in Coos Bay, Oregon and graduated from Marshfield High School.  After graduating high school she attended Southwestern Oregon Community College and received an Associate Degree in Accounting, then went on to Linfield College to graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.  Denise has 30 years of bookkeeping and finance experience.

 

Denise enjoys spending time with her family, camping and watching her three children play sports.

Tina Milburn

Business Administrator

Tina Milburn has over 35 years of experience working in a professional office, most of which has been in Administration, Management, and Human Resources. After graduating high school and attending college in Southern California, she moved to Coos Bay in 1983. Tina has been with our office since 2001, becoming the Office Manager in 2003 and then to her current position as Business Administrator in 2008.

Tina enjoys living in this area and is a member of the Zonta Club of Coos Bay, serves on the local bowling board, and is a past board member of our local Bay Area Chamber of Commerce.

She and her husband Kelly have two grown sons and a Yorki named Rusty. In her spare time, she likes spending time with her husband, traveling, watching sports, golfing, bowling, reading, gardening, decorating her home, and hosting barbecues for friends and family. She is an avid Mickey Mouse fan and looks forward to visiting Disneyland as much as possible each year.

 

Terie Goodman

Internal Accountant

Terie has been working in the public accounting sector since 1989 and for HMWFG since November of 1998. She is the senior member and vital part of our Admin team. She does most of our client payroll, internal data tracking, billing, efiling, bookkeeping, and manages our accounts receivables.

 

Kaila Murch

Administrative Assistant

Kaila Murch was raised in North Bend and graduated from North Bend High School in 2006. She came to our office in July 2014 through Cardinal Services and became a permanent part of the HMWFG administrative team in September 2014. She has years of administrative experience, is a quick learner, and is excited about her future with our office.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, hunting, camping and shopping.

 

Brenda Carson

Administrative Assistant

Brenda Carson joined HMWFG in May, 2019.  Brenda is our receptionist and assistant to the Admin team.  Brenda attended Oregon State University and Portland Community College where she studied Business Administration.  

Brenda was born in Canada and moved to Portland as a young child.  Years later she met her husband and moved to SFO, Michigan and Minnesota, before settling down in Coos bay.

Brenda is married and has two grown children and two grandchildren.  In her spare time she is either spoiling her grandbabies, decorating her cottage or spending time with her two dogs, Max and Bentley.

 

Russell Quigley

Network Administrator

Rusty Quigley started with our office doing part time Network Consulting back in 2015. He was raised in Coquille, Oregon, where he graduated from Coquille High School in 1991. He then ventured to Portland State University and graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. He has a double emphasis in Computer Information Systems and Management. He became a permanent part of the HMWFG family in January 2017 as our full time Network Administrator. We are so pleased to have him as part of our Admin Team.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and traveling.
